NOEL GUCKIAN, CVO OBE
Former British Ambassador to the Sultanate of Oman (2005-2011), with over 30 years experience in the Middle East, serving twice in Libya and twice in Oman (Deputy Ambassador, 1994-1997). Other Middle Eastern postings were in Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Syria and Northern Iraq.
Since retiring in 2011, he has worked in various advisory positions in the private sector focusing on the Middle East and Africa, including the Indian Ocean.
He was an Honorary Fellow of Durham University on the Middle East in the School of Government and International Affairs (2010-2014). He lectures and run seminars, and mentors on Middle Eastern Affairs, at a number of Universities and in the private sector.
Noel has a wide range of important relationships and contacts in the Middle East which are valuable to Audere’s ability to assist Clients in the region. He continues to take a particular interest in the dynamics between Oman and the southern part of Yemen, especially Mahra, the wider Indian Ocean Rim, and in particular East Africa.
